Yousuke Yasui: I think that Mr. Masato Nakamura’s original versions seemed to be created with sound source like E-mu Proteus if I am not mistaken, but when I try to listen, comparing them in this way, the porting to Genesis sound source was quite careful and yet, the gamelike brushup was also added and dropped in~.

Naofumi Hataya: Exactly! The person who created this timbre is President [Yukifumi] Makino, who also handled the SE. It is a splendid job. If I remember correctly, he seemed to also do the exchanges with SY77’s data…. I witnessed Mr. Nakamura sometimes coming to SEGA, and comparing and adjusting some ideas and opinions. (The novice me at that time)

I do not know whether Ohtani is a perfectionist, but Sonic Runners music is a flawless composition and something I will not get bored with no matter how many times I listen to it. It is good that I can remember Desert Ruins music after listening to it once, yet it is not boring, isn’t it? Total coordinates as a desert set that includes the event music will also be nice.

Speaking of Sonic, we must not forget about those splendid, familiar sound effects. My senior [Yukifumi] Makino, who was involved since the first title, created the catchy SE that seem to have made the words into sounds as they are. My favorites are “Chickoooon” and “Parkoo” (the sound of breathing air underwater).
